Spark Plugs
What does a Spark Plug Do?
The primary function of the spark plug is to ignite the air/fuel mixture within the combustion chamber under any operating condition.
Spark plugs must provide a path and a location for electrical energy from the ignition coil to create a spark used to ignite the air-fuel mixture. A sufficient amount of voltage must be supplied by the ignition system to spark across the spark plug gap. This is called "Electrical Performance."
The spark plug firing end temperature must be kept low enough to prevent pre-ignition, but high
enough to prevent fouling. This is called "Thermal Performance", and is determined by the heat range selected.
Common Problems with Spark Plugs
Many times when a spark plug will not fire there may be debris that has built up around the lower portion of the electrode and the grounding point. This will cause the spark plug to short out and not create a spark. The air gap is vital for the spark to occur.
Glow Plugs
What does a Glow Plug Do?
The primary function of the glow plug is to ignite the air/fuel mixture within the combustion chamber under any operating condition.
Why do diesel engines need glow plugs?
Glow Plugs aids cold starting by raising the temp of the incoming air, it also reduces smoke emissions, engine noises, vibrations and improves driveability in the cold.
Fitting Tips
When fitting the glow plug, it is important that the thread of the glow plug and the engine is clean. The high-quality coating of the NGK glow plugs makes the use of lubricant redundant.
On removing it is important to avoid that dirt particles falls into the combustion chamber. Loosen only the glow plug a little and then clean the threads with a suitable tool and then remove the glow plug completely.
With NGK spark plugs and Glow Plugs you can guarantee a high performance, quality product something that Click Car Parts demands from its suppliers.
